About This Project

Ethereal Children’s Portraits, Inspired by Nature

Before this photo shoot, I could tell that my subject was one of those children that had what my grandmother used to call an “old soul.” She didn’t smile much, and everything she said was to the point. There were moments when I could get her to break a smile, but the smiles were few and far between. I decided that a very soft and natural setting would be the best for this young lady.

We headed out to the Lake of the Forest, a small city just outside of Bonner Springs, KS. This setting, for a photographer, is ideal for nature shots. There are little bridges, grassy fields, wildflowers, hidden paths, gravel roads, and tons and TONS of NATURE!

I took most of these photographs with a 50mm lens to even better accentuate the dream-like feel I was trying to create.

I hope you enjoy some of the photographs that I took of Miss Elize.

This photography shoot delineates the importance of an initial interview. As a photographer, I want to know who I am photographing before the actual photoshoot. If you live in the Kansas City or Johnson County area, I would love to talk to you about your upcoming photo session. I can meet you most anywhere, or you can stop by my studio!
